A contemporary hotel and surrounded by beaches, countryside walks and its own golf course, Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa has something for just about everyone. Whether you fancy a getaway with friends or a trip for two, here are just a few of the reasons we love this Cheshire spa hotel.
A short drive from Liverpool, Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa is in a location that combines all our favourite features. You can enjoy a night out with music, dinner and dancing in a city of culture known for its music heritage (Cavern Club here we come), to its off-beat arts scene. That said, the hotel itself is surrounded by scenic Merseyside country views with beautiful beaches and woodland practically on the doorstep.
One of the great things about Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa is there are multiple things to do. Amongst the favourite features is its 18-hole championship golf course complete with challenging water hazards, deep bunkers and pristine fairways. They also have the nine-hole Woodhey Dunes Course, a PGA Academy and a Toptracer Range.
The spa is obviously a top feature for us at Formby Hall, with everything you need to work out and wind down. Facilities include a gym, pool, Himalayan salt sauna as well as a complete thermal suite. However, where it really comes into its own for groups is the number of treatment rooms. There are 10 in total, including three dual suites, so you can enjoy your therapies at the same time as friends.
The spa treatments at Formby Hall are definitely worth visiting for. They use products from ESPA (a classic) as well as the Natural Spa Factory. Both are known for their beautiful treatments, but at this time of year we're particularly taken with the Cinnamon and Sweet Orange Salt and Oil Scrub, their Jingle Bell Rocks Facial Massage with Hot Stones and their Ho, Ho, Ho Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage. They’re all available to choose from on their seasonal Winter Spa Escape special offer (from £109 per person).
The main restaurant at Formby Hall is The Fairway Grill, which is relaxed and welcoming. It enjoys views of the golf course, and serves everything from a carver menu to afternoon tea. We love sitting on the patio by the fire pit under a chic canopy and watching the world go by with a drink in hand.
