What is a Watsu pool and what are the benefits of Watsu?
Akasha at Hotel Café Royal is home to London’s first Watsu pool for tailored hydro-treatments and guided meditation, but exactly what is a Watsu pool?
Read full postWith so many products on the market it can b difficult to know where to allocate your budget. What’s necessary? What’s a luxury? Does it really make a difference and if it does, when should you start using it? Getting under the skin of some of trending skincare products, we have asked therapists to tell us what they think. Following our recent conversation with W London about polyglutamic acid, here Danni-Leigh Holtby, Head Therapist at Heavenly Spa in The Westin London City, tells us what we need to know about eye creams.
The truth is eye creams are a staple part of your skincare routine; they just as important as cleansing the skin correctly. We all need to be looking after our skin around our eyes.
Your eyes are the most delicate part of your body, you wouldn’t go into the sun without sunscreen so why not protect your eyes? Eye creams are the equivalent of sunscreen - you need to protect and moisturise the area to help prevent dryness and puffiness. It’s easy to think that one size fits all when it comes to face creams, but eye creams are specific to this area because it’s so delicate.
Eye creams can be used at any age. I recommend them for anyone who has concerns around there eyes - be that allergies or ageing - there are eye creams that can target these things. It’s just about finding the right one - just like anything when it comes to wellness.
Just like the weather our skins need change over time. I recommend changing your eye creams with your concerns. For example. if you are concerned with swelling and dark circles then I recommend targeting swelling first, when you feel this has been corrected, switch it up.
Take the example of a cup of tea. You wouldn’t use the same tea bag in 10 cups, right? This is the same with pricing. You’re paying for the active ingredients and the way they are formulated, not the brand. You don’t have to choose the most expensive product - but you need to know what’s in it. It’s not about the clever branding - its about pure and active ingredients.
You can certainly address some concerns with lifestyle factors as well. For example, you can support the work of your eye creams by keeping yourself hydrated and having a balanced lifestyle.
I recommend having our eye and lip therapy treatment here at Heavenly spa where one of our expert Therapists will be able to personalise your routine for your concerns, explaining how to gain the most from your eye cream and allowing you to try and experience their true power. Just like a good night’s rest an eye cream can really enhance your skincare routine.
A personal favourite of mine is Germaine de Capuccini Timexpert Rides Eye Treatment Duo. It has a set of eye creams for night and day, meaning it offers 24-hour protection and fights against all ageing concerns. It has a price point of £81.55, but it is revolutionary, using advanced formulations and it has worked wonders on my under-eye bags. Every morning my eyes look as if they have had a beautiful night’s rest.
