Why it works: Everything you need to know about the Diamond Energy Facial facial from Natura Bissé

Following a Pennyhill Park spa day where Product Manager, Georgia, described her treatment as "the best facial I’ve ever had", we had to find out more. Advanced Therapist, Liane, explains what you need to know about the Diamond Energy Facial.

What is the Diamond Energy Facial?

The Diamond Energy Facial is a 60-minute spa treatment from spa product house Natura Bissé, and it's all about helping to put energy back into the skin. It's rejuvenating, regenerating and anti-ageing, perfect for brightening the complexion and reducing pigmentation. It also uses lavender to calm, soothe and hydrate.

For those who want to take it a step further, there's also the Diamond Life Infusion Ritual, which is a 90-minute treatment that supercharges the experience, making the skin look as though it's around three years younger - it's the next step in rejuvenation.

What happens in the two facials?

All of our facials start off with a grounding, welcome ritual to calm body and mind and bring you into the present.

Diamond Energy Facial

For the Diamond Energy Facial we cleanse the skin using pomegranate extract combined with massage techniques for toning. Then we apply a glycolic peel for exfoliation, and while that's on we do a balancing cranial massage, working on pressure points around the scalp and shoulders. Next, we apply our Diamond nectar serum and essence cream before going into a Gua sha massage and lifting facial, which involves very small muscle movements to stimulate tone. The peel-off Diamond mask follows, and while that's working we do a hand and arm massage, which is deeply relaxing. We finish off with our eye cream, moisturiser and an SPF before a closing ritual at the end to bring the treatment full circle.

The Diamond Life Infusion Ritual

The Diamond Life Infusion Ritual also begins with a welcome ritual, followed by a pomegranate cleanse and massage. We then go into a Shirodhara massage, which is an Ayurvedic treatment to help reduce stress. Next, we apply a three-step exfoliant, which is more intense than the one in the Diamond Energy Facial. It involves applying a glycolic peel, before adding a carbolic powder all over the face and activating it with a living water (containing algae and other nutrient rich ingredients). This creates a carboxi-style reaction, which produces a gentle champagne effect across the skin. Once that stage is complete, we apply the Diamond Life Nectar and Essence products to moisturise, and a Youth Elixir serum which contains Bio-Magnet Nanosomes. We activate these with a bi-phase magnetic tool, creating little vibrations which tighten the skin and really help the skin absorb the products. From there we apply an LED mask for added luminosity and to aid collagen production, and while that works we do a hand and arm massage. Once we take off the LED mask, we do a gold peel off mask which is full of minerals, and while that's working we do leg stretches and a foot massage. When we take that off we apply an eye cream and moisturiser to finish and you're left with beautifully hydrated skin.

What are the benefits of these facials?

The Diamond Energy Facial is all about renewing, replenishing, tightening, firming and brightening the skin - it's a lovely, anti-ageing facial. The Diamond Life Infusion Ritual does the same but takes it a step further - that renewal process is supercharged - it's a real journey for the skin to turn back the hands of time.

Who are these facials recommended for and why?

They are for anybody who is after an anti-ageing treatment, and they're also great for addressing pigmentation also. Both are luxurious, but the Diamond Life Infusion Ritual is a real journey - everyone falls asleep in that treatment, it's beautiful.

Is there anyone who shouldn't have these facials and why?

We do have a lot of clients with sensitive skin, and generally they are both fine for that, but if you have very sensitive skin then we might suggest avoiding the Diamond Life Infusion Ritual as it's a bit more stimulating. We don't recommend the Diamond Life Infusion Ritual for anyone who is pregnant, but we have lots of other lovely therapies. We wouldn't recommend either to anyone on any medication that affects the skin such as prescription acne treatments - again, we have other therapies that we can suggest as an alternative.

Is there anything you should do pre- or post- spa treatment to make the most of these facials?

The Natura Bissé facials are all created so you are able to leave them and go about your day straight afterwards, so they don't mess up your hair or require downtime for products to sink in - you could go straight onto the red carpet afterwards and glow. Equally, you can use the spa facilities afterwards without worrying about washing the products off as they absorb beautifully during the treatment, so you can have your treatment at any point throughout the day

We would suggest avoiding Botox, peels, and retinols directly before these facials and after your treatment make sure to drink plenty of water, always apply an SPF, and avoid exfoliating for a few days after to let the skin rejuvenate.
