We all know and accept that we may have a little more indulgent food over the festive season, and that’s ok. However, there are things we can do to help our bodies manage the difference in our diet for a slightly more healthy New Year’s Eve. For one, Grayshott Spa recommends that if you’re having more sweet treats than normal, try having them after something healthy. It will help stop your blood sugar going crazy and causing you to overeat as a result.
A taste of summer in winter, and something delicious to enjoy without any negative side effects. You don’t need alcohol to have a great drink and a good time, as Epic Sana Algarve’s High C Energy mocktail will show you. Providing a boost of energy, immunity and good skin for a healthy New Year’s Eve, blend orange juice, guava juice and strawberry juice and blend with a little ice. Decorate with a strawberry for good measure.
Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. Dancing the night away (even if it’s in the privacy of your own home and an intimate party of up to six people - or even just one or two to be honest), it will absolutely help to burn some extra calories, but more than that it will make you feel good as well. It’s a great way to improve muscle tone, get that heart rate up, and improve flexibility as well as heart and lung condition.
It only takes 20 minutes to get your heart rate up, so if you’re short on time go for a brisk walk, preferably on an incline before festivities commence on New Year’s Eve. Then again, if you can spare the time, there are some beautiful places for a longer walk as well. Apart from being a nice thing to do, and a good way to spend quality time with someone you care about, walking releases dopamine, which is a chemical that makes you happy. It also works wonders to boost your energy, no matter how tired you are, it boosts confidence, eases anxiety, fights insomnia and is one of the most effective ways to manage your weight. Maybe try a visit to Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall surrounded by the rolling Devon countryside.
