Another move to make the spa and wellness industries more accessible and enjoyable for cancer patients this week, as skincare brand Biologique Recherche partners with non-profit organisation Wellness for Cancer to adapt facial and body treatments to the needs of cancer patients and people in remission.
Biologique Recherche has a clinical and personalised skincare brand from Paris with a reputation for excellence using pure and raw active ingredients. It was founded by Yvan, Josette and Philippe Allouche, a biologist, a physiotherapist and a doctor, more than 40 years ago and it is their professionalism that continues to drive the brand.
Cornerstones of their products include the use a high concentration of botanical, marine and biological extracts, no artificial fragrances, the use of cold formulation manufacturing to preserve the original structure of the active ingredients, and a commitment to efficacy.
Making treatments more affordable
From June the Biologique Recherche treatments will be available in the US and France with plans to roll them out to more than 70 countries, making it the only company adapting its methodology to all types of cancer patients worldwide.
“We are bringing to market something that should have been done a long time ago - bringing wellness and beauty to those who need it most, and to those who cannot always afford it,” said Rupert Schmid, chair of Biologique Recherche.
This is where Wellness for Cancer comes in, an awareness that one of cancer’s hidden difficulties is in the financial weight it can add. With the help of Wellness for Cancer treatments will be priced the same as traditional Biologique Recherche treatments, but through corporate social responsibility, each country will also align with a non-profit to help provide treatments and products to those who can’t afford it.
A choice of treatments
Through Wellness for Cancer, Biologique Recherche is adapting their methodology to serve those who have been touched by all different forms of cancer by offering a selection of products and gestures for each client depending on cancer type, cancer therapy, surgery involved and long term conditions, like risk of lymphedema. Globally, together, they are rolling out comprehensive training programs inclusive of repeatable and standardised processes to ensure the following: authenticity of the brand, that services adhere to Biologique Recherche’s meticulous protocols, and that training offers the ability for therapists to personalise each client treatment.
“It’s important to see individuals beyond diagnosis or situation,” said Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer. “This is where Biologique Recherche shines, as their core competencies are personalisation and advanced training. This partnership is a crucial step for those dealing with cancer and their physical and psychosocial side effects.”
One of the really exciting facets of this development is that this takes spa treatments for cancer patients beyond the ability to simply have a treatment and further towards the desire to make sure there is a choice available. The intention is that the spa and wellbeing experience proves effective, worthwhile and enjoyable as well, just as it should be for everyone.
