We arrived at Ragdale Hall on a Wednesday at 4.30pm when it was dark and the whole place had a lovely warm glow to it. After checking in snuggling into my fluffy white dressing gown I headed for the thermal suite. Again the darkness outside added to the mood, and after an hour or so of relaxing I was just about ready for a little something to eat so popped my slippers on and headed to the cafe.
2. A cup of tea and homemade shortbread never goes amiss, especially when it’s done as well as it’s done here. Surprisingly inexpensive for such a luxurious venue it was just what I needed to keep hunger locked up until dinner.
3. Post snack and a quick dip in the pool I headed to my treatment via Ragdale’s Aladdin’s Boutique for a little retail therapy - this is something I highly recommend. It’s the perfect place to shop!
4. Have a treatment - seriously, make sure you have a treatment. It was amazing! I opted for the Moisturising Lavender Body Treatment in which my therapist was extremely attentive and understood my needs entirely. The massage was perfect and the smell was divine. I certainly felt relaxed by the end of it!
5. One of my favourite things at a spa is being able to stay in your robe for every single part of it. This isn’t something you can do everywhere, but at Ragdale Hall, you absolutely can! Accordingly, I headed for dinner feeling very cosy. The supposedly light supper was more than ample as I had upgraded to the Deluxe package. So I was rewarded with three courses as opposed to two, a glass of Prosecco and an upgraded experience in the Garden Room restaurant. I opted for pate and lamb which were both incredible and extremely filling and simply didn’t leave room for dessert (hard as I tried) but there was an extensive selection to choose from.
6. A twilight package is a really nice and decadent treat for the middle of the week, especially when it’s so cold and dark out. In an ideal world, it’s something to do when you live nearby so you don’t have far to travel home afterwards, and it’s a great alternative to a drink at the pub for a mid-week catch up with friends. The price tends to be a little lower on a mid-week twilight break (as if you needed more reasons to book one), so if you ask me, Wednesday is the new Friday and this is how I will be spending it!
