In a secluded spot on the mid Wales border, Bryn Tanat is a wellness escape like no other. Surrounded by woodland, the estate pivots around a historic house on the banks of the River Tanat, and a new wellness experience offers you peace, tranquillity and plenty of personal space. Here are five of the reasons we love Bryn Tanat Wellness Spa... and believe us when we tell you there are many more to discover as well.
The spa itself is completely yours for the time that you’re using it. Set within a purpose-built haven surrounded by nature, it's constructed of wood, stone and glass, creating an instant sense of calm. You’re allocated two hours in the spa, depending on the package that you book, and usually that includes two 60-minute spa treatments as well. Whether you're a couple or a group of friends, that ability to have the space to yourself adds an extra touch of luxury, but it also helps you to relax.
When you stay overnight you have your own eco pod (powered by solar and ground source renewable energy) for up to two people, complete with a private hot tub and a sundeck overlooking the wildlife pond. Larger groups can stay in one of their lodges - also with their own hot tubs.
While accommodation is described as self-catering, you really don't have to do very much at all. Home cooked meals are delivered to your door by their chef, and the most you will have to do is put it in the oven. For example, breakfast is delivered in a grazing box of fresh croissants, fruit, granola and yoghurt; lunch is an afternoon tea of freshly prepared sandwiches and cakes; and the evening meal varies with preferences and the seasons.
The spa is set within 15 acres of private grounds and gardens looking out across the river, wildlife pond and woodland. Part of the joy of being here is enjoying the great outdoors, whether that's going for a walk, playing tennis, or simply relaxing on your sun terrace.
Spa treatments at Bryn Tanat are a particular joy. Using the Aromatherapy Associates skincare brand, the team are truly invested in what they do, making sure to offer quality in everything they do. Their signature treatment is the Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience, which can be tailored to individual needs, and it's a real joy whether you want to feel energised or ready for a good night's sleep afterwards.
