Read full postLike something out of Jack and the Beanstalk, Chewton Glen is not only known for being one of the most luxurious spas in the UK, it is also home to a number of tree house suites (just in case the regular five star accommodation doesn’t quite do it for you). Set high amongst the trees in a secluded valley, it’s the stuff that fairytales are made of!
Windsor has all the makings of an incredibly romantic weekend in its own right, but waking up in one of the cavernous, open-plan suites at Harte and Garter Hotel and Spa with a view of the castle really is the cherry on top!
If there is one thing that Spabreakers know (aside from good spa treatments) it’s a good breakfast when we see it. Yes, this is the difference between a good break and a great break, and thanks to their expert knowledge of waffles, it’s one of many reasons we love to sleep and wake up at Celtic Manor!
Of course the main thing that we all want out of a good bed is serious, unrivalled comfort, for which reason we are completely in love with Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa. The fact that you can see the sea and the beach from said beds, is an added bonus and yet another reason to stay put under the duvet for as long as humanly possible.
It turns out that Y Spa at Wyboston Lakes are as fond of sleep as we are, so their Big Sleep relaxation area (of which TV presenter, Anna Williamson , is a fan), complete with ergonomic loungers, warm ‘snuggle’ blankets, a fireplace, and a selection of books is the perfect excuse to nod off at any time of the day!
Sleep isn’t just for the daytime though, let’s not forget that! In the right environment we can take a nap any time and that’s one of many reasons to love K West in London - they have a Sun Meadow room that’s warm, inviting and utterly peaceful. Giving the sense of being in a temperature controlled forest, you would never know you’re in the middle of the metropolis.
The grounds, the surrounding, the general sense of peace are all amongst the reasons sleep is easily come across at Grayshott Spa Hotel, but one of the rather fortuitous side effects of being in the middle of the countryside is the coincidental lack of mobile phone signal… now THAT’S a good reason to get a good night’s sleep!
Aromatherapy can be used for lots of things, but combine it with a good massage and we’ve been known to doze off mid treatment with dribble halfway down our faces - yeah, attractive, we know. Here’s the thing, try out the Aromatherapy Experience at Lough Eske Castle in County Donegal and the 90 minute treatment is pretty much guaranteed to leave you comatose… in a good way!
Another treatment to try if you’re struggling to get some shut eye is Shirodhara (and no one does it better than the Royal Marine Hotel). In case you haven’t heard of it, it’s a meditative treatment where warm oil is systematically poured onto your forehead (third eye) to clear your head and help you relax. It sounds weird, but boy does it work! Just remember to shampoo twice afterwards!
