Spotlight on Buckinghamshire spa hotel Horwood House

The four-star country house hotel is surrounded by 38 acres of grounds and gardens, combining the best of heritage style and modern spa sensations with their H Spa at Horwood House retreat.

A historic luxury hotel

An enchanting property that dates back to 1911, Horwood House has all the charm of a destination with history. However, alongside its heritage features and time-honed character, rooted in being the birthplace of the famous gardener Percy Thrower, a vast £5.5 million renovation has also made it the height of modern hospitality.

Enchanting gardens

The gardens that surround the hotel set the tone for the whole experience. Wake to views of a lily pond and manicured Pytheas Gardens that honour Percy Thrower himself, and enjoy the peace and quiet they offer whether it's on a stroll around the grounds or from the pampering haven in the spa.

A contemporary spa retreat

The H Spa is a central feature of Horwood House, purpose built and set within the grounds, it's contrastingly contemporary but sympathetically designed. It has a pretty courtyard, and has been styled with natural finishes and luxe materials to create a country chic vibe. Meanwhile, facilities range from a beautiful pool and thermal suite to five treatment rooms offering therapies from Caudalie skincare - known for using active ingredients from the vine.

Stylish country dining

Continuing the horticultural theme, dining at Horwood House is in the convivial surroundings of Harry’s Bar & Kitchen. It's named after Harry Thrower - the original Head Gardener and father of the aforementioned Percy, and it's very much an ode to the great outdoors. Stylish and relaxed, there are zoned seating areas including a large country kitchen table for gathering together at all times of the day for a true country home vibe.

An idyllic location

Despite being an idyllic escape from the thrum of everyday life, Horwood House is conveniently located in Buckinghamshire. It’s close to attractions like Bletchley Park, Woburn Safari Park, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Shopping Village for those who want to head out and explore during their stay, but it's also just a two-hour drive from London or a 15-minute taxi from Milton Keynes Central train station.
