Location is great as close to home, greeting was warm and informative about facilities, minimal drinks choices available as someone who doesn’t drink tea or coffee, spa area appears tired in condition, and restaurant too with mould growing on the ceiling blinds, peeling paint on window frames, our afternoon tea was among people having work meetings, children sat alone attending virtual lessons so not really a relaxing or elegant vibe, robes were tatty in condition with one thread bare in places and mismatched robe belts that come in one size which is small, the treatment we were not able to get together although booked as a pair as they only had one therapist working, she was really good, and the products used ‘Elemis’ were really great, although the room is an adapted hotel room so the spotlights above were quite bright when trying to close your eyes and relax they also can’t be dimmed, the hot tub was out of order, on our arrival we were told it was being cleaned and would be opened soon which was later confirmed that actually it wasn’t working at all and the staff were trying to quickly get it working which didn’t happen leaving only a very small swimming pool which had continuous use from hotel guests including children playing and swim lessons for adults and children, and a small steam room not accessible for physically disabled people, the pool also did not look as though it had accessibility for physically disabled people, so not as accessible as one would have hoped over all for this day and age, changing rooms were equally small too small for a wheel chair to access, only one private changing facility which would not support a physically disabled person as it was very small in the corner, the toilets also not suitable for physically disabled access were again small, and run down with exposed pipes, loose toilet seat etc., the hand soap was nice, toilet roll was economy, seating in the changing room also limiting and small, again you are contending for space with hotel guests and regular members, lockers are provided and are a mixture of sizes you need to bring your own padlock or purchase one from the spa reception, we found a standard size Yale padlock just about fit in the door, the staff were friendly and the booking process with them was easy and all questions answered in an informative way, allergies were considered and managed for afternoon tea and accommodation for a hot chocolate rather than a tea was made, it would have been helpful to have had a card to say what the food was, we had to guess what one of the sandwich’s was but there was a good supply with two of each to share as well as a variety of cakes, some quite dry but the scones were warm and delicious, we were advised we could attend afternoon tea in out robes but I’m very glad we didn’t as we were sat among hotel guests and general public using the space to work so it would have been very exposing, staff great but whole place needs investment.
