Time to reconnect on a luxury spa break at Alexander House Hotel Utopia Spa

Alexander House - tailor made spa

So much about this year has been about being careful - with our health, with our spending, with our travels, with our wellbeing. And so it should be, but we also deserve a little luxury once in a while (at a safe and appropriate distance of course). With that in mind, few places could be more of a treat amidst the beauty of the autumn months, than the five star Alexander House Hotel Utopia Spa. If you haven’t been, or haven’t been back this year, now’s the time to reconnect - with the spa retreat and with someone you care about while you’re there. So what can you look forward to?

A Neo Classical luxury spa

While the property as a whole has a Gothic vibe, the Utopia Spa draws inspiration from its location on a Roman road. As a result, it’s Neo Classical grandeur throughout. Grecian-style interiors and water-based therapies make the adult-only space a tranquil and indulgent place to while away the hours and prepare mind and body for luxury spa treatments. Meanwhile, the space extends into the gardens (more on that later), as the relaxation room opens out onto a veranda. Glide down the grand staircase into the ‘Spa Garden’, and recline in the heated spa pools, try out the barrel sauna or snooze on the loungers.

Magnificent gardens for tranquil walks

The hotel is surrounded by 120 acres of grounds and gardens, on a historic estate that was once the home of the poet Percy Shelley.  A chance to see the 17th century property from a different angle, these gardens are a joy throughout the year. Wrap up warm and walk amongst the falling leaves in the autumn, or watch the snowdrops appear in the spring. Maybe even take a book in the summer months and sit in the sunshine on your own or enjoying quality time with a friend, partner or parent.

A variety of luxury spa hotel accommodation

Undoubtedly, staying in Alexander House Hotel’s sumptuous rooms and suites in the mansion is a real treat, but it’s not the only option for when you stay. Taking into consideration longer stays, more privacy, a preference for something a little more modern or simply something different, you can also choose to stay in one of the Cedar Lodge Suites within the grounds and offering a superb amount of space. For example, the Garden Suites have their own terraces, and the Duplex Master Suite are set over two floors. Then again, if you want to go all out, there is also the option to stay in The Gatehouse, a fully serviced luxury apartment catering for up to four people at the edge of the estate.

Sumptuous food at all times of the day

On any spa or hotel break, food is an important feature - at least, we think so. From lengthy breakfasts to elegant dinners, dining is a sensory experience that’s made to be shared and Alexander House Hotel does not disappoint. In luxury spa hotel style they have two award-winning restaurants, and are also experts in the fine art of a delicious afternoon tea. Reflections is the place for lunch and brunch, drinks are served in the historic 1608 Champagne Bar, and AG’s Restaurant - holder of three AA Rosettes - is absolutely the location you want to experience for simply celebrating the joy of time reconnecting.
