Read full postSpabreaks.com founder Abi Selby has been invited to join the judging panel at NatWest everywoman Awards this year as part of a team responsible for selecting both the finalists and the winners from an inspirational line-up of entries.
Abi is a passionate advocate of the work done by the everywoman awards, and everything it stands for. Established in 1999, they aim to identify, nurture and celebrate the advancement of women in business. With a presence in over 100 countries and a successful active network of over 20,000 members, everywoman is recognised globally as the professional organisation that drives the development of women at all levels.
The NatWest everywoman Awards are open to any female business owner, whether they operate as a limited company, sole trader, or in partnership with others. The awards celebrate the woman behind the business, their personal successes and achievements and how they individually inspire others.
Herself an everywoman nominee in her work at Spabreaks.com and beyond it, Abi has always been an outspoken advocate of supporting women in the workplace. She has used her personal experiences to champion women at work and to pioneer meaningful change in the spa industry.
Spabreaks.com’s call centre is designed to attract more women into a male dominated world of sales by initiating mentor programmes, providing financial and personal life planning, boosting confidence through monthly awards, encouraging women to go for internal promotions, one to one sessions with Abi, and team motivational sessions with Abi.
As a result of Abi’s efforts, skilled senior management staff have remained with the company since it began. In 2017 Abi introduced the first apprentice position, having created a nurturing environment for young, educated females. She has investing in wider home working programmes for part time parents wanting flexibility. Three of four mums lost to maternity leave have gone on to start their own successful businesses after being mentored and encouraged by Abi. Two of those also do some home working for Spabreaks.com.
The NatWest everywoman Awards are supported by some of the UK’s most accomplished self-made business owners. Every year they judge the Awards knowing their endorsement, as successful role models, encourages other women to start and grow their own business. Previous winners include household names such as Dame Margaret Barbour, Charlotte Tilbury MBE, Prue Leith CBE, Sandi Toksvig OBE, Kanya King CBE, Kelly Hoppen MBE, Cath Kidston MBE, Elle Macpherson and Jo Malone MBE.
The awards nominations for this year are now closed, but if you would like to attend follow the link here. To register your interest for 2020 nomination dates, email events@everywoman.com.
