Where to go and what to do on a spa break in Warminster
The historic town of Warminster sits amidst the beauty of south-west Wiltshire on the edge of Salisbury Plain, offering a world of attractions, rest, and relaxation.
Read full postA quintessentially British country house estate, nestled into the Surrey hillsides, Beaverbrook is a luxury spa days and breaks destination and a favourite amongst seasoned spa goers this year. Here are 10 reasons why…
Nestled into the Surrey hills, Beaverbrook luxury spa is surrounded by 470 acres of beautiful gardens, which really sets the scene for tranquility and escapism.
It appears the original owner, Lord Beaverbrook, was a man of many connections. Today you can choose to stay in Churchill’s actual bedroom, as well as unwind on the terrace surrounded by a hundred years of stories to be told.
For a romantic escape, you simply have to stay in one of the traditional rooms in the main house, of which there are 18.However, if that’s not your style or if you are visiting with friends, you may prefer one of the six contemporary rooms and suites in the Coach House within the grounds.
There are three diverse dining experiences to sample. There’s the Japanese Grill in the main house bringing Asian fare to a classic British setting. Sir Frank’s Bar is historic and opulent for light bites and cocktails. Meanwhile, The Aitken Room can be reserved for private dining for up to 16 people.
Even if you’re only here for a short time on one of their luxury spa days, do take a look around. In Sir Frank’s Bar the walls are adorned with over 250 paintings by Marianne North, a prolific English Victorian biologist and botanical artist. She is known for her plant and landscape paintings, her extensive foreign travels, her writing, her plant discoveries and, if none of that twigs your interest, there’s the creation of her gallery at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.
Beaverbrook is an idyllic setting to explore, whether it’s roaming in wild meadows, fishing in the trout filled lake, playing tennis, exploring hidden gardens and treehouses with the family or strolling in vast woodlands.
Even relatively normal activities take on new significance at this luxury spa hotel. Fancy watching a film? Head to the private cinema. Fancy a glass of wine? Why not give wine tasting with the Head Sommelier a try?
One of the inescapable truths about Beaverbrook is that it is brimming with character. You won’t find anything like it anywhere else, whether you’re here overnight or on one of their luxury spa days. For example, The Coach House Health Club and Spa is bathed in autumnal colours and an oak leaf leitmotif cast from an entirely unique stained glass ceiling, turning it into a jewel for wellbeing peppered with flowers and gemstone hues.
It’s not just the design that recommends the spa. The array of facilities, from a hammam with a twist to both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a boutique and apothecary retail area, and a dedicated Deli for daytime refreshments.
With all that luxury, you would be forgiven for thinking that this was the china doll of spa hotels. However, part of its appeal is its sense of fun and welcome for everyone. The result is a warm welcome for children, who love the vast grounds to run around in, and the dedicated children’s outdoor splash pool.
