    The pool is a bit like a leisure centre pool with a sectioned off part of the pool for swimmers doing lengths and accessible for children. In the steam room, a hot drip dripped on my foot burning it and leaving a red mark. The outdoor space was lovely especially as we were fortunate with the weather and it was facing the sun, which was in just the right direction. There was no mention of a robe to me and my partner but everyone else had a robe so we sat there in our towels. The showers were lovely, big shower heads and a lovely warm temperature. The thing that put me off the most was the rude staff member, I asked her if myself and my partner could order some drinks, she asked me if I could wait as she ‘has a shit-tonne of receipts to do’. She said she would be with us in 20 minutes, but was not. Me and my partner also had to wait for beds to become free so had to sit on some chairs for the best part of the day. For the prices of the memberships, the spa itself is average at best.

    Although the spa staff were polite, there was a lack of warmth and friendliness. The therapist was lovely and the treatment good. The facilities have seen better days. Toilets weren’t particularly clean in the ladies changing room and there was no toilet roll (later restocked). I wouldn’t advise going for a spa day at the weekend if you want peace and quiet as (understandably) the pool area is full of families with children. The food (lunch) was good quality but the service was incredibly slow. Initially one person on duty, doing everything. I needed to go in search of the only member of staff to be seated and although the food arrived in fairly good time (and was tasty), the actual order-taking and plates being clearly was very long. When the bill didn’t arrive 20 minutes after asking for it (by now there were 3 members of staff on duty) I needed to go in search of someone in the bar next door to help me. The couple at the next door table gave up waiting and went to pay at the main Hotel reception. Although busy in the restaurant being Sunday lunch, it was by no means full and although staff were polite, there was just a lack of efficiency and attention. Overall, sadly just not the relaxing, luxury spa day I would have liked.

The Grade 2 listed Tudor farmhouse dates back to 1475 and most of its original character features remain intact. The historic country house is made up of converted farm barns, cattle sheds, milking parlours and stalls. The original beams have been retained and the original oak door is still used as the main entrance to the house. The spa has been newly refurbished to create the perfect wellness retreat to relax and unwind.
