Tortworth Court

It’s a very nicely kept hotel with a grand entrance and beautiful decor. The dinner in main restaurant I found very good and great service all around the hotel. The breakfast was entirely self service with Bain Marie hot food so it’s not quite as good as it could be (and the coffee from the machines was not good). The rooms are comfortable and very clean and good quality extras etc.(The coffee in the room was better than the restaurant) it was reasonably quiet and easy to get around. It’s a very masculine feel generally with dark decor and a bit grandiose which isn’t my personal preference but if you like English country house style it’s a very nice place with good quality and service and pretty good value.

This was a real treat, beautiful surroundings, lovely areas to just sit and chill out talk. We had an anding relaxing stay. A most do again.

Beautiful hotel, staff were so friendly and helpful. The food from the grill and bar and breakfast was very good!

My wife and I received a 2 day overnight stay at Tortworth Court including a Spa treatment and access to the facilities as a Xmas prezzie from last year. Overall, I'd say the experience was 'good' with the highlight being the 25 minute treatment where the staff and the massage itself were really very lovely. The room we stayed in was entirely adequate, clean and comfortable but could have done with a spruce up; the window catches wouldn't shut properly, the bathroom shower curtain was discoloured and let water spray onto the floor, there weren't enough shelves and hooks in there either. The mattress for the double bed was worn out. It all felt a bit old and under-invested in. The restaurant and bars were faultless. Fantastic food and a real pleasure from the staff. The grounds were very well maintained and a real gem to explore. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were fantastic although the pool was a bit cool at first and took some getting used to but fine after the initial shock. Probably the least favourite thing of our stay and something I should have really complained about but didn't was the less than welcome reception we received when checking-in where the Receptionist didn't even acknowledge we were stood at the desk for at least 30 seconds then proceeded to be dull, uninviting and expressionless. I would have expected a high calibre facility like the Tortworth to have groomed their reception desk to be the elite, much more personable and in touch with their well paying guests upon arrival. Not the first impression we were expecting. The break we had ended too soon and we'd love to return but to be frank, a welcome like that is unlikely to draw us back. It's a shame as overall it was a good stay and the lack of warmth from the front desk was more than made up for by the other members of staff, especially the Spa, bar and dining areas.
