We received the Spa Taster Day as a wedding gift, and with Rushton Hall being so close to our home, we were excited for a day out without a long drive! The Spa Taster Day provides access to the facilities from 9:30am to 5:30pm.
Upon arrival, the reception staff greeted us warmly and provided our locker key, advising us to pre-order lunch at the café. We started our day at the gym, but were somewhat disappointed. Given the gym membership cost (£125 a month), the gym could use a significant refresh. While it has some good equipment, the space is quite small, and there were areas of discoloration near the air conditioning units. A major update is needed!
Next, we explored the spa facilities, which include a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and pool. These were satisfactory, with plenty of seating options like sofas, chairs, and beds. We noticed an outdoor jacuzzi, but it was covered and not in use.
The Spa Taster Day includes a £15 allowance per person for the café. The menu features salads, paninis, and soups. We pre-ordered our lunch in the morning for a 1:00pm slot, choosing the King Prawn and Mango salad and the Fennel Roast Chicken & Pearl Couscous salad. The food likely comes from the main hotel restaurant, as the café is quite small, seating a maximum of 25 people. Unfortunately, we waited 25 minutes for our salads, and one had been sitting on the side for all that time. We also received a complimentary tea or coffee and opted for iced lattes. Drinks are quite pricey here; we paid £4.25 for a J20.
We were fortunate with the weather, enjoying a rare 23-degree day in April! The courtyard area around the fountain is lovely and was surprisingly quiet for a Friday.
I hadn't booked a treatment in advance and inquired on the day, but they were fully booked. I recommend booking treatments beforehand if you definitely want one.
We decided to leave around 5pm, having done everything we wanted. We took a walk down to the lake at the bottom of the garden, and the grounds are absolutely stunning.
Overall, I would only consider returning if there was a special offer (the usual cost for a Spa Taster Day starts at £79 per person) and because it's so close to our house. The exterior is stunning, but the interior is slightly underwhelming.
