The treat about this lovely hotel is that although it is only a short distance from Chester, its woodland location makes it feel beautifully secluded, gifting it an air of escape. Comfort and style are at the forefront of everything on offer and that extends to the spa – a renovated area that now boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a particularly luxurious thermal suite. As well as pampering treatments, more holistic therapies such as acupuncture and Chinese cupping are also on offer.

I recently stayed at Craxton Hotel to celebrate my girlfriend’s 30th birthday, but our experience was very disappointing. Despite emailing ahead to request a small birthday gesture, nothing was arranged, even though reception acknowledged the request. Dinner was underwhelming—bland food, long wait times, and an unjustified £55 additional charge. Our room’s mattress was so worn down we could feel the springs, making for an uncomfortable night. To top it off, my girlfriend’s spa treatment felt rushed, the therapist yawned throughout, and it ended 15 minutes early.

Lovely hotel. Big rooms. Loved the garden room Breakfast was amazing! Breakfast staff were so friendly! However, It was a treat for my daughter and we were disappointed at length of her massage. She was called in after me, and came out before me.. only lasted about 17 minutes...

    Very Good
Happy with the room and location of the hotel and grounds, we were pleased with the facilities in the spa and pool area. Our evening meal was not very good, as it was over done, we ordered a bottle of wine, which was plonked on the table by the wine waiter unopened and without comment from him, when I complained to the waiter about his attitude, the wine waiter returned and mumbled an apology and opened the wine bottle, his attitude and the poor quality of the food, meant we had a poor experience. When I complained to the duty manager the following morning, I did not get much satisfaction from him, he explained that the wine waiter was in fact only the barman and not a sommelier and that is always the way, he delivers the wine, but at least he could be pleasant about it. Next morning at breakfast, we were greeted by Faye who was very pleasant, until we ordered our meals, mine was a full English which was no problem, my wife ordered scrambled eggs and salmon and queried why there was a a surcharge, Faye's attitude changed immediately and became very aggressive and in a loud voice intended to either intimidate or embarrass us in front of the other guests, said that as we were on a cheap rate, our allowance for breakfast was only six pounds. If this had been pointed out by spa breaks beforehand we would not have booked the trip to this hotel.
