The building and grounds are really beautiful and a great location for a spa. Internally, there is a lot of character and some of the spaces are really ornate.
In places there is some disrepair, the curtain rail randomly fell down in the heated seat area in the spa and when I look to put it back up it had been previously fixed with blue tack.
The sauna is in the changing area which makes it feel more like a gym than spa. The pool area was beautiful and I liked the dim lighting but it was very cold and could have been a good couple of degrees warmer, even for those swimming it was not a great temperature.
Out of the 3 of us who had treatments, 1 was quite disappointed. She fed back to the therapist that she was not enjoying the scrub and that it was painful and altho Gh the therapist adjusted her approach she said it was very awkward and just not a pleasant experience. My personal experience was good but not necessarily a treatment I would recommend to others as it was a bit flat but my therapist was pleasant and I did not have any awkward encounters etc so for me it wasn’t anything to complain about.
Lunch was ok and reasonably priced but the quality of the food was not great - so wouldn’t have been anted to pay anymore than we did. The ambience in the eating area was not that great and if you’re in there is a robe it did not feel like a spa in the true sense.
The price was reasonable but think it was reflected in the some of the experience which was lacking.
