The spa here was designed by famed brand ESPA for ultimate enjoyment, and is complete with a 20-metre Swarovski Crystal-lit pool, a thermal suite, a serenity room, and a cutting edge fitness studio - it’s really incredibly special.
Close to Cambridge in the historic town of Newmarket, Bedford Lodge is a four star hotel that was once a Georgian hunting lodge owned by the Duke of Bedford. Surrounded by rose gardens and paddocks, as befits its location in the famed home of horse racing, the hotel’s spa is in an adjacent building, and is a spacious environment where everything is done to perfection.
Small and perfectly formed, Bannatyne Charlton House is all about personal touches and modern amenities, combined with a touch of old school elegance. In the heart of Manchester, this historic hotel has been given a miraculous makeover, and as such it can now boast a place amongst the finest hotel spas. Having played host in its time to kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers and rock stars alike, the hotel definitely has a sense of grandeur. The spa itself is for those aged 18 and over only (although the pool does have some children’s swimming times). It has four thermal areas, four dedicated relaxation area and three sleep chambers as well as eight treatment rooms amongst its prize possessions, making it an enchanting place to spend lots of time making it all about you.

There is a 20 metre indoor/outdoor pool that remains at a constant and optimum (by hydrotherapy standards) 35⁰ C, a thermal suite (that is to say herb sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool and ice fountain) and a gym. The hotel itself claims to have been the first spa in Malvern in 1910, and is very much a destination designed for ‘grown-ups’ - that will explain the predominantly off-white soft furnishings.
A day spa where everything is done to perfection, from a menu that caters to every dietary requirement to treatments that really make a profound difference to your wellbeing, Eden Hall Day Spa is a complete gem. It is home to a salt-water vitality pool, outdoor hot tubs, a rose infused steam room, an herbal caldarium, salt inhalation room, a sauna, fitness equipment, and a range of specialist showers and water therapies. There are classes to join, beautiful treatments to try, and for those who want to add a little decadence to the occasion, Champagne is available too.
Surrounded by the most spectacular grounds and golf course, Ramside Hall Hotel is an expansive destination that’s really designed to spend a proper amount of time exploring. The spa is adult only with a 25-metre pool, a gym, a thermal experience with a herbal sauna, Himalayan salt steam, aroma steam, tepidarium, sunken amphitheatre, sauna and drench showers. There is also a hydrotherapy pool, a bubble pool, a spa garden, and an outdoor vitality pool. There is even an outstanding balcony infinity pool in the first floor treatment suite for private use.
If you’re looking for a spa day amidst the chaos, or perhaps before hopping on the Eurostar to Paris, St Pancras Spa is a subterranean idyll. Seductive and romantic, there’s a small but perfectly formed hydrotherapy pool to relax in before indulging in a lengthy treatment on heated beds. Then make time to relax in the relaxation room with beautiful herbal teas, and if you’re feeling particularly decadent, head to the lounge afterwards for afternoon tea.
