The power of a holiday
Nilesh, Digital Marketing Apprentice
"A lot of what I spend on my wellbeing is part and parcel of daily life. However, spending money on going away on a holiday is probably the best and most enjoyable way I spend money on my health. It's quite a broad application of the idea, because it's also obviously because I like going on holiday. However, whether it's little weekend breaks around the UK and Europe (I went to Amsterdam for a weekend) or a week in the sunshine somewhere warm, it always does the trick when it comes to making me feel rested. I think that wellbeing is less about one thing or another, and more about doing things that make you feel well, so that you can enjoy everyday more."
Supplements and skincare
Georgia, Product Manager
"My biggest health and wellbeing investments are probably two things: supplements and skincare. I am committed to taking magnesium, curcumin and zinc, and I make sure I buy from brands that are all natural, without any fillers or nasties added. I also love trying lots of different skincare - I don't necessarily stick with one brand, I like to explore. I'm obsessed with masks and moisturisers, and just love a pamper evening!"
Working out the stress
Phoebe, Marketing Executive
"My best health investment is probably my gym membership. I've paid for a gym membership that includes access to all the classes including more holistic ones like morning meditation and gentle yoga. I find myself leaning more towards these classes when I feel particularly stressed or overwhelmed as they help calm my brain during a time when I would ordinarily let my fitness slide and not make time for it."
Luxury skincare
Carly, Product Manager
"My favourite wellbeing investment is splurging on Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm and Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream. I suffer with psoriasis really badly to the point where I take medication for it. Using these products has never once brought me out in a flare up. The cleansing balm leaves my skin plumped and also melts away waterproof mascara. You feel like you are washing the day away! They also give my skin a glow and a natural, plumper look without having to get fillers!"
A safe space to workout
Rhea, Creative Designer
"The best money I ever spent on my health was purchasing a membership at a fitness club. Although this may seem like a conventional answer to this question, at the moment, it means so much to me. As a newly remote worker after moving to a new city, it has taken a bit of time for me to find my feet. By investing in my wellness with this membership, it provides me with a safe space to workout in the way I want to, which I’ve never really experienced before. The fitness club helps me nurture my mind, body and soul in ways I didn’t before, and it feels like an extension of my home; another safe space to belong."
My pregnancy pillow
Fiona, Product Manager
"I think my pregnancy pillow was the best purchase I ever made for my health, although my partner wasn't so keen as it took up so much space in the bed! It really allowed me to have the most comfortable sleep in pregnancy, I literally couldn't sleep without it! Once my baby was born, I also loved it for sitting with him and cuddling, and for a long time I still couldn't sleep without it!"
A pair of running shoes
Bonnie, Editor
"Depending on the weather, I seem to get through a pair of running shoes every six months or so, but for 20 years running has been a non-negotiable, daily part of my existence and I hope that's the case for another 20 years or more. It doesn't matter if I run for 15 minutes or 15 miles, going for a run has become the place that lets me burn off any anxious energy and untie the knots in my head. I'm fortunate enough to live in a rural area, which means I can run outside across the fields, which is important to me because it's not just about the movement - it's also about the fresh air (and ideally the lack of phone signal as well). Come rain or shine, it's the thing that helps me keep my head straight, and the only thing I really need to make it happen is a pair of running shoes."
“A journalist by trade, Bonnie is the Editor for Spabreaks.com. Keen to spread the message on accessible wellbeing and a spa experience for all, she thinks green smoothies are somewhat overrated and her favourite spa treatment is an Elemis Couture Technology facial.”
