Read full postIt might be a Regency-style building on the outside, but it’s all modern glamour on the inside at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Liverpool. This city centre hotel and spa is perfect for pampering and preening on a city getaway. Here’s what you need to know.
The hotel sits within a 19th century building that was originally designed as a gentlemen’s club. Today it still boasts sweeping staircases, magnificent high ceilings, Italian mosaic floors and 50 original stained glass windows. Over the years it’s had a number of functions, but became home to the hotel in 2016.Today it’s got everything you would want from a modern hotel (beautiful rooms, contemporary facilities and lots of places to unwind), plus a little bit extra courtesy of its stylish heritage.
Liverpool’s eforea Spa really takes the hotel experience up a notch. Set over two stories it’s a space preserved for those aged 16 and over and it’s complete with a range of thermal experiences to get you into the right frame of mind for a spa treatment. It includes a spa pool with a vitality pool, experience showers, and aroma steam room and a relaxation area. Therapists use Elemis products in a range of face and body treatments, and they also offer all the finishing touches you need to get ready for an evening out.
Liverpool has many restaurants and bars to experience, but the hotel’s own is worth savouring. The Koukash Bar & Grill is situated in the Library Lounge, which is adorned with the most magnificent panelled walls and a deeply opulent vibe. Start with cocktails and then spend the evening eating, drinking and enjoying good company.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Liverpool is located right in the heart of the city. Lime Street train station is less than a 10-minute walk away, with excellent transport links. Like many cities, Liverpool isn’t ideal for parking and there isn’t any on site at the hotel. However, guests do get a discounted rate at the NCP car park on the opposite street.
The location of the hotel isn’t just convenient, it’s also perfect for exploring the many attractions that Liverpool has to offer. There’s the Tate Liverpool - a beacon for modern art in the former dock warehouses, the Royal Albert Dock, and of course, as the home of the Beatles, Liverpool is an excellent place for live music. The Cavern Club on Mathew Street is famous as the nightclub where the Beatles were ‘born’, but there are also lots of other venues, large and small.
