In the heart of Warwickshire, visitors will find a luxurious secret sequestered amongst the lavender gardens of an enchanting country house. In a building dating back to 1914, but with the contemporary addition of a modern spa, this romantic retreat is a favourite for all manner of reasons. Here are just five reasons we love Elan Spa at Mallory Court.
Mallory Court has the gravitas and beauty of a property that has matured over time. Built between 1914 and 1916 for cotton entrepreneur, James Thomas Holt, it is in the enviable style of Edwin Lutyens, complete with gables, stone dressings, mullioned windows and inglenooks. Over the years it changed owners and was added to, but has retained its elegance and grandeur alongside a mesmerising warmth.
Food is a very special experience at Mallory Court, whether you're tucking into afternoon tea or a three-course dinner. As part of the Relais & Châteaux group they take food very seriously, and in elegant style they serve local ingredients (including some grown on ice), in their celebrated restaurant, which has three AA Rosettes and is hailed as one of the finest in Warwickshire.
The grounds of the hotel are as special as the buildings. With 10 acres of grounds, they are complete with kitchen gardens where they grow their own herbs and vegetables, rose gardens, a croquet lawn and plenty of spaces for hosting special occasions, from weddings to birthday parties. Tucked amongst the trees within the grounds of course, is The Elan Spa, which really adds to its beauty.
The Elan Spa is a destination in its own right, tucked away in the grounds, and giving it a sense of secrecy that makes it all the more special. Head there for the day and you can spend the whole time in your robe and slippers, enjoying the thermal suite, relaxing in natural surroundings in the outdoor vitality pool, and sitting back with a glass of Champagne in the nail bar.
Spa treatments are all about luxury wellbeing at The Elan Spa. There's a rasul, which is perfect for couples or friends, and they use a beautiful combination of Temple Spa and GAIA products in a collection of face and body rituals. Favourites include the Drift Away Massage - a deeply relaxing top-to-toe massage with frankincense, lavender and patchouli; and the My Kinda Skin Facial - a totally bespoke facial complete with a hand, arm and scalp massage.
