Some things never go out of fashion and afternoon tea is one of them, especially on a spa day. After a facial or massage and a dip in the pool, few things beat a glass of bubbly and something sweet to tickle the tastebuds, but if you’re going to do it, do it in style…
Indulge at St Pancras Spa
In the centre of London, St Pancras Spa is a glorious example of the renovations this part of the city. Showcasing architecture old and new, the spa is in the depths of the building - a Moroccan cocoon away from the buzz of the world outside. After pampering and preening in total luxury, afternoon tea is served in the lobby bar upstairs where you can watch the world go by as you sip champagne and eat the most enormous amount of delectable food you could possibly ask for - you certainly won’t need lunch as well!

Glam rock at K West
As the hotel and spa that’s a favourite amongst rock ’n’ roll royalty, it is fitting that K West near Shepherd’s Bush (a stone’s throw from Westfield), offers an afternoon tea like no other. Where old vinyls serve as placemats, the menu is in the shape of a Blondie record, tea cups and saucers are electric blue and pink and in place of regular sandwiches you gorge on mini burgers, mini tarts, fresh wild berry ‘rolling scones’ with clotted cream & homemade jams, as well as a selection of delectable cakes. It’s playful, stylish and totally different.

So it will come as no surprise that their cream tea is no exception. It’s is as traditional as they come, with no disappointments including a selection of finger sandwiches such as smoked salmon and crème fraiche, ham and mustard, egg and mayonnaise and cucumber and cream cheese, followed by buttermilk scones with jam and clotted cream and a variety of cakes and pastries served with tea or coffee.

A little magic at Galgorm
Galgorm Resort and Spa in Ireland takes the whole hotel and spa experience up a notch. A glamorous whirl of superb service and spectacular style and facilities, it’s really a faultless experience. When it comes to afternoon tea, they have a variety of options available and seasonal changes as well. For example, we are smitten with their Laurent Perrier Afternoon Tea, complete with a selection of sandwiches accompanied by a miniature soup, freshly baked scones and miniature desserts such as mango, coconut and lime mousse, blueberry and orange cake, strawberry and elderflower cheesecake, white chocolate and passionfruit tart. It’s all served with a choice of loose leaf teas or freshly brewed coffee with a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne. Their beautiful selection of teas is a particular draw card with the Mr. Jones brand offering Cape Farewell from South Africa, Nice Nancy - a lemon verbena from Spain, Chef Chaoun - an organic Chun Mee from China and Natural High - an organic chamomile from Egypt.
