Great Fosters was owned by the Sutcliffe family for nearly 90 years before it was purchased by the Alexander Hotels group in 2018. The group was established in 1994 by Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe. Peter is also known as the cofounder of the supermarket-chain, Iceland.

The nearest train station to Great Fosters is Egham (40-minutes from London Waterloo). From there, a taxi to the hotel will take less than five minutes.

Great Fosters has an incredible history. A former hunting lodge, it was originally built in 1598, and testament to that is an original royal crest of Queen Elizabeth I above the main porch. In 1930 it was bought by Sir Harold Sutcliffe and following a major renovation it became a hotel. Since then it has been refurbished and updated, retaining its historic style whilst also offering modern luxuries.
